SS21 Dazzle statement pattern & graphics

 

Finnieston Clothing Ltd make functional lifestyle garments with a strong focus on quality and durability. They are based in Glasgow, a city whose shipbuilding yards were once revered the world over. As a brand Finnieston pay tribute to their home city and its heritage seeking to revive the ‘Clydebuilt’ hallmark of excellence. I worked closely with Finnieston and SSEAMS apparel collective on seasonal and brand statement graphics to celebrate the revival of this heritage into their collections. One of the major opportunities for SS21 was to introduce a versatile statement pattern, a concept inspired by the historical reference to dazzle camouflage which was a feature used on early 20th century warships built on the Clyde. The story of the pattern has a detailed meaning, the design pays homage to two icons of the city’s industrial past. By forging these together it blends a striking visual and meaningful statement unique to Glasgow and Finnieston the brand.
